Saint-Tropez, the international jet set capital, the dream showcase for the ‘did you see me…’ crowd. It’s not that long ago that the fishing port used to fall asleep to no other interference than the song of crickets. That was before the coastal resort was hit by the ‘yeye’ wave of the 60s. A tidal wave that swept in the yachts that are now its trademark and which come in increasing crowds each season. From the sky, the never-ending ballet of floating palaces, rivalling in excess, is impressive. In the middle of this jungle, a Breton named Brigitte is the law. And beware anybody who tries to sail without her permission!
When they’re not in Saint-Tropez, the yachts never go far away. They generally meet up off the beach at Pampelonne where their owners come to compare their fortunes and their conquests.
Perched on the hillside overlooking Pampelonne, the village of Ramatuelle and its cascading roofs reveals all its authentic charm…
Opposite Saint-Tropez, Sainte-Maxime is nevertheless no mirror. Sainte-Maxime, a small family resort, rarely makes the front pages of the People press. And what can you say about Port-Grimaud where the golden rule is that silence is so too…
