A Little Corner of the Landes, in Tune with the Hunt

In a small corner of southern Landes, in the villages of Sorbets and Payros-Cazautets, game is both diverse and abundant—despite agriculture gradually transforming the landscape and encroaching on the habitat of small wild fauna.Whether it’s driven hunts for roe deer (with rifle or bow), wild boar hunts, woodcock hunting with pointing dogs, or pigeon shooting from traditional hides, hunting remains the main activity and most popular pastime (even more than rugby!) in these rural communities.And when it’s time to chase pigeons out of the corn reserves of their duck-farming and agricultural friends, Guillaume Lartigue and Sylvain Dupouy—two childhood friends nearing their forties and deeply involved in local hunting life—are always ready to help.Over several months, through the lives of Guillaume, Sylvain, their families and friends, we’ll follow the hunting rhythm of this little corner of the Landes—without which the social fabric would have long since unraveled.
