Coming from hip-hop, Sébastien Ramirez and Honji Wang conceive an incredible gestural trap where the need for freedom is confronted by constraint.
With Borderline, created in 2013, choreographers Sébastien Wang and Honji Wang have not only achieved an enormous success, but written their names permanently at the top of the bill.
Winners of the prestigious Bessie Award in New York, they have also been awarded numerous international prizes such as the special audience prize at the Hanover International Choreography Competition, first prize at the Red Bull BC One, the special prize at the Osaka Hip-hop International Choreography Competition, and more.
Taking the themes of constraint and manipulation, Sébastien Ramirez and Honji Wang present a gestural hip-hop that is both dazzling and profound, filled with a youthful, direct grace. With five dancers and a rigger they have perfected an incredible, honed gestural trap overflowing with intense sensations to illustrate our passion for life and our need for freedom, however harsh the circumstances. A passionate and intimately regenerative piece.
