On the Trail of the Dagga Boys
In the south of Zimbabwe, three hours from the South African border and near Gonarezhou
National Park, stretches a vast hunting safari area managed by the local community. Each
year, it receives a government-allocated quota of animals that may be legally hunted. This
region is renowned for hosting remarkable densities of Cape buffalo with impressive horn
formations.
Among them is a category coveted by seasoned trophy hunters: the famous “Dagga boys”,
the old, solitary bulls with fully matured bosses. These individuals, particularly cunning,
offer exceptional spot-and-stalk hunting opportunities.
Finding a fresh track at daybreak and following it,sometimes for hours, behind expert
trackers whose knowledge and experience are unmatched remains one of the most
exhilarating pursuits. Accompanied by Zimbabwean professional guides, our camera follows
the safari of two French bushmen in search of intense sensations.
