This film is an encounter with Patrick Zavan and with the Lot River. Even though carp are mainly fished in lakes and ponds, Patrick chose to stay close to the river where he grew up. The part he knows best lies around Villeneuve-sur-Lot, in the Lot-et-Garonne.

For Patrick the bug struck that day on the banks of the Lot when he spotted giant, coppery fish at the surface of the water. Without his knowing it, the call of the carp had just begun. From that day his sole aim has been to catch them at any cost. Today, he is trying to perfect his art and share it with his carp-fishing friends and also with less experienced anglers.

Demonstrating four techniques of carp fishing and one for catfish, Patrick will introduce us to that portion of the Lot where he grew up. As Patrick rarely fishes alone, his fellow fishermen will help us to understand that this form of fishing is not only a question of technique and trophies, but a real story of sharing and communing with nature.
