Located 196 miles away from Tahiti, Maupiti is certainly the most quiet and authentic island of the Society Archipelago.

It is characterized by motus and a coral reef, which borders the translucent lagoon that surrounds the central volcanic island.

A six-mile long road circles the island and goes through all of its little villages, each one different and more breathtaking than the last.

It is one of the last mountain islands of the Society Archipelago to have remained intact. Maupiti has been able to protect itself from mass tourism, perhaps thanks to the one channel that ensures communication with the outside world and which is reputed to be very dangerous. Not only does the island have an extraordinary lagoon, but it also overflows with numerous archaeological sites, hidden in the mountains. The inhabitants make a living from fishing and agriculture.

Through three emblematic figures of the island, Maupiti reveals itself to us in an intimate setting. People from here are going to open up to the people from the plains.

Aky, the singer, Teva the elder, guardian of the legends of the island, and Vairea, the owner of a small pension, are going to share with us their love for this volcanic piece of land and its unsuspected treasures.

Three islanders, three characters, three generations, but one same passion, one same love, one same attachment to a land, an island…
